Vet 4 a Day

Vet for a Day is a full day experiential careers program with the Vets at the Australian Wildlife Health Centre at Healesville Sanctuary. Students have an opportunity to interact with animals, with each other and work with professional veterinary staff.

Program Outline

The day begins with animal case studies, recording observations, examining animals with the Vets and exploring the Australian Wildlife Health Centre. Students are introduced to wildlife diseases based on real scenarios.
They then develop and discuss plans for individual cases, whether to rehabilitate or release, before joining the Vets on their routine rounds to check collection animals. To help students determine if clinical procedures are for them, students participate in an array of activities through the day, including a post mortem examination, and are taught the antiseptic art of ‘gowning up’ for clinical procedures.

Program dates for 2012 are: May 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 8th.

COST: $102.00 - includes morning tea and Booklet. BYO lunch.
