Accessibility at Werribee Open Range Zoo

  • Visitors with a companion card are entitled to free entry when accompanying their caree on presentation of their card at the Admissions counter. Visitors with a carer card are entitled to 10% discount when accompanying their caree on presentation of their card at the Admissions counter.
     

  • Parking: there are 7 accessible parking bays near the Main entrance of the Werribee Open Range Zoo. 
     
  • Access: Werribee Open Range Zoo has an easy-to-follow pathway system with access for people using wheelchairs and pushers. Wheelchairs are also available the Safari Shop ($22 hire, fully refundable deposit). Photographic identification required). All prices are GST inclusive.

  • Accessible toilets: are located at the Main Entrance near the Savannah Function Centre, the Meerkat Bistro and along the Volcanic Plains Walk near the Wallaby exhibit.

  • Vehicle Tours: We have four wheelchair accessible Safari Bus. Our Safari vehicles can accommodate 2 standard wheelchairs or one electric wheelchair per vehicles. The wheelchairs are accommodated at the front of our vehicles alongside the driver and will be safely strapped in. Bookings are advisable on 03 9731 9601.

  • The Open Vehicle Experiences uses a 12 seater vehicle that can accommodate a person in a wheelchair who can transfer across to a seat.  We regret we do not have a wheelchair accessible mini bus at the moment for Tall Order.  Ramp access is available to our vehicles if required.

  • Assistance Animals: that are certified by a registered authority are welcome at Werribee Open Range Zoo, however for the safety of your animal and our animals, they are not permitted at Rip Roaring Feed, Raising Rhino, Open Vehicle Adventure, Tall Order Giraffe Feed, Slumber Safari and Volcanic Plains Walk. If visitors would like to attend these experiences they can be escorted by a staff member or volunteer guide and their Assistance Animals will be cared for during their visit to these experiences. On arrival admissions staff will provide assistance with these areas and, if needed, look after your Assistance Animal. 

  • Mobile Guided Tours: Friends of the Zoos volunteers offer free tours via an electric golf cart designed to assist with accessibility through the expansive Zoo grounds. The vehicles can carry up to three passengers at a time. It travels at walking pace so that assistants or family/ friends can tour with it on foot.  Tours run for approximately one hour and a half hours.  No notice is required however bookings will be subject to  availability on the day.  Operating terms and conditions apply. For more information please contact us on: 03 9731 9601.
